Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Working Group

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have growth a more important role in everyday life, thanks to the popularization of mass use tools and high penetration of mobile devices and GPS in society, which make users increase exponentially with the potential to produce and consume this information.

This translates into greater demand for GIS services, and increased interest from businesses and Government to improve, harmonize and promote the dissemination of data.

The working group main objectives are:

• Promote and share knowledge and skills of group members to the joint development of RTDI associated with GIS.
• Study the early adoption of OGC standards to enable high interoperability between projects.
• Promote training activities that improve the profile of professionals in the field of GIS.
• Promoting dissemination activities that promote the benefits and the transverse nature of GIS in other sectors.
